Who we are

Halley Johnston Associates (HJA) specialise in the psychology of communication, behaviour change, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).  We have provided training, consultancy and therapy services throughout the UK, Europe, and North America for over twenty years.  Our company ethos is to provide quality, evidence-based training services to help professionals to provide the best support possible to their clients. Our philosophy is to make our work applied, realistic, challenging, and safe.

 

We combine an honest, open, and strength-based approach to consultancy and training with highly qualified and experienced trainers.  The HJA team have extensive experience in applied clinical practice in real life settings.  We are proud to remain grounded in our ‘real world’ conversations that we have with the people we serve in our everyday clinical practice.  Our consultancy and training programmes are evidence-based in terms of MI content and also from a teaching and learning perspective.

Dr Lynne Johnston

Lynne is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist (HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist) who works in clinical practice, training and supervision. Lynne is the director of Halley Johnston Associates Ltd.  She works part time in the NHS and is also an honorary associate professor with the University of Glasgow.

Dr Frankie Dempsey

Frankie is a Clinical Psychologist (HCPC) and BABCP accredited CBT therapist. Frankie works in the NHS in Neuropsychology, conducting neuropsychological assessment and offering therapy and intervention for people managing brain injuries and neurological conditions. She is also a trainer with the Motivational Interviewing Network of trainers, and delivers training with HJA.

Karen Gibson

Karen has worked in the public sector as a manager for over 30 years. She is the business manager at HJA.

Dr Kacey Jackson

Kacey is a Clinical Psychologist (HCPC) working in clinical practice and in research. Kacey working in the NHS with children who have a learning disablity. Kacey has experience in and a specialist interest in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
