Director and Founder of Halley Johnston Associates Ltd (HJA)

Lynne is a Health Professions Council (HPC) registered Principal Clinical Psychologist and specialises in the psychology of communication and behaviour change.  Lynne holds two Doctorates: a PhD in Exercise Science (University of Birmingham) and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (University of Newcastle Upon Tyne).  She has worked in training and consultancy for over twenty years and maintains an active and enthusiastic interest in clinical practice, training, and supervision.  She has published extensively via international journal articles and book chapters.  She has successfully supervised twelve Doctoral Students.  However, Lynne values the importance of maintaining a strong grounding in clinical practice; she therefore continues to work with a range of patients, with co-morbid physical and mental health conditions, within the context of specialist weight management and physical activity promotion.  Lynne is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and has delivered training, consultancy and supervision on Motivational Interviewing in the UK and Europe since 1996.  She has undertaken further training in the USA in the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity coding system (MITI) and has used this tool within training and supervision to provide structured, formal feedback to trainees.

 Evaluation and Applied Research:

Lynne has taught Research Methodology and Methods to postgraduate students, in the UK and Internationally since 1997.  She delivers training in NVivo software and has supervised, and examined, several postgraduate students  who have used NVivo in their research. Lynne is one of a small group of UK-based trainers who have trained with the software developers (QSR International) in the UK and in Australia. She has presented internationally on training issues associated with the use of this software and has a particular interest in the use of NVivo within Doctoral Research.
